The hip-hop world is famous for name-dropping designers in lyrics; be it Kanye West the “Louis Vuitton Don,” or A$AP Rocky’s “Fashion Killa” single in which he raps about a staggering 27 designers, to name a few.
But this time around it is Tom Ford to take the rap lyric spotlight, with the release of Jay-Z’s album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” considered to be one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2013.
After calling out to the designer in his collaboration with Justin Timberlake, “Suit & Tie,” the Roc Nation founder has now dedicated a whole three minutes and 15 seconds to the former creative director of YSL and Gucci.
With lyrics like “I don’t pop molly I rock Tom Ford,” (translation: I don’t do drugs, I just wear Tom Ford) and a chorus of “Tom Ford, Tom Ford, Tom Ford,” we get the impression that Daddy Bluevie has a penchant for...um...Tom Ford!
